What Makes our Laser So Effective?

Basically it comes down to only a few parameters. The wavelength of the laser beam, it’s depth of penetration, and power level. Some wavelengths penetrate more deeply than others. We use an 830 nm wavelength to ensure deep tissue penetration, and greater delivery of energized photons to the target area. The latest research now shows that 830 nm lasers produce specific biological reactions that are not produced by other wavelengths. In the past, high power lasers were prohibitively expensive and weren’t readily available.

How Does it Work?

LLLT operates on both the cellular and tissue levels. Mitochondria are thought to be the principal photoreceptors, resulting in increased adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP), reactive oxygen species, intracellular calcium, and nitric oxide release. Activation of transcription factors then lead to expression of many protective, anti-apoptotic, antioxidant, and pro-proliferation gene products. Various animal studies and human clinical trials of LLLT have been performed for indications relevant to neurology, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, degenerative brain disease, spinal cord injury, and peripheral nerve regeneration.
